Description
This monument represents a battered woman, counting the beads on her rosary (austerely clothed in traditional dress and headwear), in search of eternal peace through prayer. It was sculpted in 1951 by Victor Demanet (1895-1964). In 1975, when Saint Peter’s Square underwent renovations, the sculpture had to be transferred. On the back, is the Death monument, where you'll find the names of all the combatants, fallen soldiers, members of the Resistance and political prisoners can be found.
