Description
Constructed under the reign of the Empress of Austria, Marie-Thérèse (1740-1780), this road used to link Brussels and Vienna. The castle of Roumont was used as an inn under the name of Casaquy. This roman road was identified with precision in 1978 on the left bank of the river Ourthe. The path was known to exist on the opposite bank, and it was possible to determine the point of crossing. Archaeological digs, macadamization of the road surface, modifications where it nears the river, paving of the bed of the Ourthe and the discovery of these remains at the occasion of the Heritage Days 2000 provoked enthusiasm in the region.
